Advanced Chemical Company Achieves Certification through the Responsible Minerals Initiative
WARWICK, RHODE ISLAND – Advanced Chemical Company has renewed its certification status as a Conflict-Free Sourcing organization, after successfully completing the Responsible Minerals Assurance Process (formerly Conflict-Free Smelter Program). Following the completion of this assurance process, the Responsible Minerals Initiative (RMI) formerly the Conflict-Free Sourcing Initiative (CFSI), has concluded that Advanced Chemical Company is conformant with the RMI Gold Protocol.
Inventory Control Manager, Maureen Hoffman, states “Advanced Chemical Company has been a conflict-free certified organization since 2016, under the gold protocol. The RMI Audit Review Committee after completing the Supply Chain Transparency Smelter Audit for Gold, provides assurance to our customers that we do not source gold from any organization that may be associated with the region of the Democratic Republic of the Congos, or its adjoining nations”.
The Responsible Minerals Assurance Process was generated in lieu of the Dodd-Frank Wall Street Regulation, and Consumer Protection Act regarding “Conflict Minerals”. The sourcing of gold and other conflict minerals within the region of the Democratic Republic of the Congos has been found to be socially irresponsible, and detrimental to the environment. The Dodd-Frank Wall Street Regulation requires organizations to perform their due-diligence when sourcing conflict minerals for their supply chains, to prevent financially supporting these injurious practices.
Chief Financial Officer, Michael Floskis added “Advanced Chemical Company is committed to environmental and social responsibility. We have implemented a program monitoring our direct and indirect supply chains, comparable to our Anti-Money Laundering Compliance Program, which is compliant with the Patriot Act. Advanced Chemical Company is proud to be one of only eight refiners within the United States, who is certified under this program”.
